Prediction of success for Oracle

YOU don't have to consult a fortune teller to see that local band Oracle are going places.

Their debut EP 'Jewels Of The Sky' contains three songs which reached the semi-finals of the UK Songwriting Contest whose directors and judges include some of the world's top producers.

Oracle was formed by Magheralin neighbours David McClean and Brian Mellors.

"Brian would have heard me play through the wall whenever we were in Lovechild," said singer David.

"He was only 15 or 16 whenever they split up. Later on we got talking and had a lot of shared interests in music."

David and Brian are joined by Chris Logan on lead guitar.

Oracle's debut EP recorded at HomeBound Studios showcases David's resonating vocals and obvious talents as a lyracist.

The songs are slow burners and require a few listens before they grow to epic proportions. The stand out track is 'Lost and Lonely', a fantastic soundscape that you'll do well to shake out of your head.

'Stagecoach' is another tune which is dripping with talent and an assured level of production.

There's just one thing missing - a drummer. Not that it's obvious from listening to the EP. However, the band are interested in recruiting and David can be contacted at www.myspace.com/davidmcclean

You can download the EP at any of the major online retailers such as iTunes, Napster and Amazon.

If you'd like to see the band live they'll be playing the Railway Bar on Friday, October 8.
