Rosemary is one of three woman vying for the title of ‘Best Actress’ in the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) awards on June 15 in Killarney.

She was nominated for her role as Golde in last year’s production of Fiddler on the Roof and found out about the nomination a day after finishing a successful run in Banbridge Musical Society’s Me And My Girl.

She said: “To be nominated is an absolute honour, whether I win it or not, but it would be lovely to bring a trophy home in the year the society celebrates its 70th year. After almost 30 years of participating this has been worth the wait.”

Rosemary holds a national All-Ireland SCOR trophy for solo singing. She has been chairperson of BMS for the past two years, having been a member for 20 years.

Rosemary joined BMS after the Lurgan Operatic Society folded as she wanted to continue her interest in Musical Theatre.

She said: “The then president of AIMS advised me to look into joining Banbridge and I have never regretted that decision.

“The camaraderie within the company has been second to none.”
