Schoolboys mash it up

TWO Lurgan schoolboys are making a name for themselves as a unique double act.

Adam Mooney and Ethan Lawlor have come up with the idea of ‘mashing up’ the songs of popular artists into bitesize chunks.

If you imagine a two-disc ‘NOW’ compilation reduced to one track then you’re pretty close to imagining Adam and Ethan’s act.

Their unique act has seen them triumph in a number of talent contests including most recently the Armagh heats of Star Factor in the Armagh City Hotel.

They’ll be representing their county in the final of the competition which takes place on June 24.

The 15-year-old pair, who both attend St Patrick’s, Armagh, have posted several videos of their talents on YouTube.

In the clip, ‘33 Songs With Four Chords’, the boys squeeze 33 songs into four minutes and 25 seconds. The tracks given the Adam and Ethan treatment include ‘Firework’ by Katy Perry, ‘We Found Love’ by Rhianna, ‘Milkshake’ by Kelis, ‘Don’t Cha’ by the Pussycat Dolls, ‘If I Was A Boy’ by Beyonce along with traditional songs like ‘Old McDonald’ and ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’.

Having impressed at talent show level the boys have recently been snapped up for some paid gigs.
