The works, some with reference to ‘the Troubles’, make visual reference to a world in which suffering and despair are so often seen in conjunction with dignity, integrity and spiritual strength. Some of Colin’s work, which has been featuring in an earlier exhibition in the Cathedral, employs recycled metal and wood.

Opened by Dr Sam Burnside MBE, a close friend of the artist, the new exhibition is a selection of ‘constructed’ works, each making reference to personal, family or social/political issues.

Colin said: “Sources of inspiration are as diverse as materials used - for example, old family photographs, locally dug clay, weathered wood and metal having undergone the ravages of time. The underlying ‘constant’ throughout is that of faith in the initial spark or idea that drives one to pursue the act of creating a piece of work of unknown outcome towards its ultimate conclusion, a process which can involved not only frustration and pain but also aspiration and hope.”

The exhibition is open to all and will be running for several weeks.
