St Francis plays host to GAA comedy

St Mungo’s Luganulk may have the worst Gaelic Football team in Ireland but their new comedy Show is proving to be a runaway success and it comes to town this weekend.

In a first for comedy duo Grimes and McKee they’ll be performing in a primary school - namely St Francis Primary School in Lurgan.

The strictly over 18 event takes place this Friday and Sunday evenings in the Francis Street school.

St Mungo’s opened in Conor Grimes hometown of Donaghmore and according to reviews it’s an extremely well observed comedy which paints perfect caricatures of GAA types.

Grimes & McKee, who are well-known for stage work in the Opera House and television adverts, have turned to the GAA for their latest comic adventure.

“It’s a true-ish story”, said Conor Grimes. “This is a story with jokes and characters that every GAA club will identify with.

Under-age Coaches, Davy the Drip who looks after the dressing-rooms and Committee members are just some of the characters that had the Bardic audience laughing right to the end.

The Show plays in St Francis PS on Friday and Sunday, starting at 8pm on both evenings.

Tickets are available from the school office or via Ciera on 07746557043.
