St Louis Grammar celebrates the success of its senior students

Principal Mr Rafferty paid tribute to students, parents and teachers as the school celebrated record results.

Over 96% of students attained A* to C Grades across three or more A Level subjects and almost 100% of GCSE students achieved A*-C in at least seven subjects, including Maths and English.

Mr Rafferty was proud to welcome the top achievers to the stage to receive their awards.

Prizes were given for overall achievement, as well as excellence in specific subjects. There were many success stories, but recognition was given to David Byrne and Caitriona McCrory who achieved 10A*s at GCSE. David also went on to win awards for the top performance in eight subjects.

Many students received awards for straight A*/A grades at A Level, including Eimer O’Loinsig McAuley who secured a place at Oxford University to study English Literature.

Shannon Heffron received two awards for her efforts at A Level and also the Gertrude Laverty trophy which recognises exceptional service to the school.

The school’s new Student Leadership Team was inaugurated, with Head Boy and Head Girl, Mark McGarry and Anita McKeown claiming their badges along with the Deputy Head Boys and Girls.

Mr Rafferty concluded the ceremony by reflecting on many of the events that students participated in across all areas of school life, not forgetting that the extremely busy school year also included an ‘Outstanding’ inspection.

He extended ongratulations to the students who received awards but ultimately all students were winners after such a successful year.
