St Patrick's Academy 11th in North and first in Tyrone for A-Levels

The league table, which was published by the Belfast Telegraph, shows that the top 11 performers in the North are all Catholic schools.

St Mary’s Magherafelt and St Colm’s in Draperstown also featured that list, at six and eight, respectively.

With 84.2 per cent of its students achieving three passes at A-Level, the Academy moved up in the table in 2014-15 from 27 the previous year.

While St Colm’s, which is also in Mid Ulster District, took the top spot for the best performing non-grammar school in the North with 88.1% of its A-Level student gaining top grades.

Another Tyrone school that did well in the league table, was Carrickmore’s Dean Maguirc College which earned a top placing in the GCSE lists and was named first non-grammar school in Tyrone.

Other Tyrone schools that place in the top 100 in Northern Ireland were Omagh Academy (27, 80.8%), Strabane Academy (29, 77.8%), Loreto Grammar School for Girls (35, 75.8%), The Royal School, Dungannon (39, 74%), Omagh CBS (50, 72%), St Ciaran’s, Ballygawley (63, 67.3%), Omagh High School (65, 66.7%), St Joseph’s Convent, Donaghmore (68, 66.2%), Cookstown High School (70, 65.3%), Fivemiletown College (74, 63.3%), Drumragh Integrated College (83, 59.6%), Holy Cross College, Strabane (85, 55.1%), Holy Trinity College, Cookstown (88, 53.8%), St Patrick’s College, Dungannon (96, 51.9%).
