Star's in their Eyes Extravaganza mania

SINGING sensations Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, The Spice Girls, Jedward featuring Vanilla Ice, The Nolan's, Kelly Clarkson, Tony Christie and several others are all performing live in Ballycastle.

The star-studded array is part of a Star’s in their Eyes Extravaganza which will be held on Sunday, May 2 at the Marine Hotel to raise funds for Ballycastle Camogie Club.

Speaking to the Times, Karen Coyles, Chairman of the Camogie Club explained: “A few weeks ago we ran a poster asking for people to volunteer to be contestants in a Star’s in their Eyes Extravaganza to raise funds for the club. And the response was pretty good and we initially had far more acts than we could cope with.

“After various rehearsals we dwindled it down to 12 acts who will perform on the night. Some of the artists that will be feature include Katy Perry, The Spice Girls, The Nolan’s, Tony Christie and even Lady Gaga.

“All the acts are from the local area including Ballycastle, Dunloy and Cushendall and some are actually from the Camogie Club. The Nolan’s are made up of members of the Senior camogie team from Ballycastle and Dunloy and the Spice Girls are from the under 18 girls team - so there will be a bit of rivalry between to ‘oldies and youngies’.

“Other acts include Jedward (featuring Vanilla Ice) who are all members of the local Hurling team, and we also have a young hurler from Cushendall listed to perform on the night. Other performers include a well-known and highly respected local school teacher who will seek to shed his inhibitions during his performance. Well known singer, Catrina Turner will also be performing live on the night - which will be brilliant.”

Thanking JW Promotions for all their help, Karen added: “I would just like to thank James McGarrity of JW Promotions for all their assistance in helping us to organize this event and for providing a Compre for the night. I would also like to thank all the contestants as well as everyone who has helped with our fundraising effort and offered support.
