The result is an open air concert, ‘Country Comes to City,’ at City of Derry Rugby Club on Saturday, June 14. The event is being jointly promoted by Institute FC and City of Derry Rugby Club, who have been working with the Lacy family to support Merryn in her fight against her illness.

The Star of the show, Nathan Carter and his special guest, Lee Matthews, both said they were very pleased to help in any way possible and City of Derry Rugby Club PRO Moss Dineen said over 2,000 tickets had already been sold.

Tickets are available from www.watersidetheatre.com and City of Derry Rugby Club.

Moss originally met Merryn at a charity cycle from City of Derry Rugby Football Club to Dunfanaghy Golf Club in early May, which was held to fundraise for her. Moss then decided to speak to Institute FC about using the concert to support her cause and they both agreed immediately.

“Merryn is still undergoing treatment and her mum and dad, Jenny and Michael, hope she will be in remission by Christmas. They still have a long battle ahead of them but are determined to do everything they can for their special child,” said Moss.

Even if Merryn goes into remission there is still a 70 per cent chance of the cancer returning and to stop this happening they want to send her for specialist trials in the US, he said.

Unfortunately, there is a great cost for this treatment and they are currently
