Stendhal aims for further growth next year

Stendhal Festival of Art has announced that the award winning, all-encompassing music and arts extravaganza will celebrate its fifth anniversary at Ballymully Cottage Farm, Limavady, on August 7 and 8, 2015.

Since its inception in 2011 Stendhal has been likened to a fairy tale come to life, called the coolest event of the summer and named Ireland’s Best Small Festival at the Irish Festival awards.

In 2014, the event enjoyed its most successful year to date as over 4000 visitors revelled in all that was on offer, including Frightened Rabbit, Paddy Casey and The Undertones, to name the smallest of slices of the Stendhal pie.

This past summer’s event saw the Festival once again enjoy considerable growth, not just in attendees but in event delivery and additional on site features, all of which added so much to the amazing atmosphere Stendhal is now renowned for all across Ireland.

Organisers of the Festival say that they are already making great headway into their plans for their fifth anniversary and noted that early bird tickets for Stendhal Five will be on sale in November.

Event Director Ross Parkhill said: “Over the first four years of Stendhal we have experienced some fantastic growth in all aspects of the event and we fully plan on that being the case next summer too.

“There are always new challenges for us as an organising team, things like the Tourist Board Event Fund being pulled is one such issue but we are fully focused on continuing to make Stendhal better each and every year, despite the funding issues cultural and arts events may face in the future.

“Not only was last year our most successful event to date, in many ways it was the most challenging, we learn every year and implement any lessons into planning for the next year and we aim to make everyone’s experience at the festival better each year that they visit us.

“With that in mind we have already identified key elements which we want to continue to improve next summer and will strive to continue to provide a weekend of wonders for all.

Ross added: “Next year we will be running on August 7 and 8 and a limited amount of Early bird tickets will be on sale in November at a discounted rate.

“We think that they could make a great Christmas present and at last years’ prices, you will be hard pressed to find a better value for money ticket to an event in Northern Ireland.”
