Summer fun at MADS

AFTER a week of intense singing, acting and dancing, Moyraverty Arts and Drama Society held their annual Summer Scheme Showcase last Friday evening.

With 60 young people signing up, they performed scenes and songs from The Sound of Music, Grease, The Jungle Book, Footloose, Fame, The Lion King, Oliver and Shrek.

Kieran Corr, MADS Chairman, commented: “We in MADS! are very proud of each and every child that took part.

“They all behaved really well over the week, learning important skills such as discipline, commitment, time keeping and learning to work as a team.

“The young people also had the assistance of a live band on the night.

“This will help them in further shows and will also give them a feel of a West End production.

“I would also like to thank all the parents and guardians for all their support during the week and the large crowd who attended the showcase.”

Barry McCrory, spokesperson, commented: “The young people have worked very hard over the week. Each child put a lot of effort in and this was evident on the night.

“We are glad that some of the participants of the summer scheme have now joined the junior drama as they get ready to produce The Jungle Book and some of the older members who will feature in Footloose.

“I would also encourage people to come along and see Footloose which will take place in September in which Jonathan, Emma, Jayne and Kieran are working very hard to keep it aligned with other MADS! productions.”

Footloose tickets are available from St Anthony’s Centre or Print Business Supplies, Lurgan.
