Throughout the day they will be exploring natural sciences in a range of activities.

In the morning they’ll be looking at the freshwater environment through pond dipping, fishing and dissection.

In the afternoon they’ll be exploring the marine environment and taking a closer look at starfish, crabs, seals, dolphins and more.

The summer science days are free but spaces must be booked in advance by completing the registration form which is available at Riverwatch or you can request one via email to [email protected].

There are limited places (max of 16 kids per day) and spaces are on first come first served basis on the following dates: Friday, July 17; Tuesday July 21; Friday, July 31; Friday, August 7; Tuesday, August 11; Tuesday, August 18 and Friday, August 28.

Gillian Simpson at Loughs Agency said: “These summer science days will be fun but also educational. We want the young people to learn more about their local environment and wildlife through engaging hands-on activities and as we’re keeping the group size small we hope each child will learn lots and have a great time. So if identifying bugs, holding a starfish, catching a fish sound like things your child would enjoy, then get in touch to book a free place.”
