Table Quiz in memory of Garvagh mum

Joey’s Bar in Ballymoney will be hosting a quiz next month in memory of much loved Garvagh woman, Shirley Forgrave.

Organised by Shirley’s daughter Tracy Boyd and close friend Linda Dunlop, the quiz will take place on Friday March 6 at 8pm.

Tracy explained: “Linda approached me and said she would like to arrange a fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of my mum, who passed away just before Christmas.

“Linda knows the support that we recived from the Macmillan nurses, so we felt it would be a nice gesture to give something back.

“The nurses work so hard, and are there at the hardest of times for families.”

Tracy’s mum Shirley was diagnosed with Sarcoma Cancer in August 2011, at this time she had to have her leg removed.

“She battled hard, and in a matter of weeks she was out of hospital, and with the help of nurses she was on the mend, living life to the maximum again.

“ Sadly in October 2013, the cancer returned to her lung.

“This time there was no cure, but the love, care and attention of the Macmillan team was amazing.

“Sadly mummy passed away on 12 December 2013, but we as a family will never forget the support that the nurses gave to both us and my mum. They are truely amazing, and through this quiz we just want to say thank you.”

Come along and support this worthy cause. Teams of up six people are invited along for what promises to be a night of fun. Admission is £5 per and there will be a raffle also.
