Tartan fever hits the Argory

Bringing the estate to life on Sunday 21 July will be members of two World Class pipe bands who come together each year for this unique event.

The programme will include Solo piping and drumming and full band performances from St. Mary’s Pipe Band of Derrytrasna.

Patrick Martin will provide a great selection of Scottish and Irish folk music on a mixture of instruments including the Uilleann pipes.

Scottish dancing workshops will take place in the courtyard and the event will for the first time ever feature a special musical performance from ‘Posh Folk’.

Mr David Armstrong, MBE, will be on site throughout the day to tell the amazing story of John King of Moy; a hero who’s courage and endurance on the Burke and Willis Expedition across Australia in 1860 will be remembered for centuries by Australians and locals alike.

The Armagh School of Drum Majors are planning a spectacular display and the West Highland gathering promises to be bigger and better!

Westies and Scotties will follow the pipe band, led by Senior Drum Major Andrea McKeown to the front of The Argory house for their inspection.

This is their opportunity to impress the judges and march away with a prize, kindly sponsored by Pets at Home, Craigavon.

All musicians will play together the World famous ‘Highland Cathedral’ - not to be missed!

Argory volunteer and event organiser, Ian Matchett, said: ‘The 2012 event at The Argory was a phenomenal success with over 2,000 visitors on site.

“Expectations for July 2013 are better still, so plan to be there.”
