Teens awarded places in prestigious musical

TWO Banbridge area teens have won places in the ensemble in the in the Northern Ireland premiere of the musical comedy The Producers at Newtownabbey’s Theatre at The Mill from August 3 to 11.

Simon McConnon from Laurencetown and Rory McCollum from Dromore will appear in Northern Ireland’s first ever professional production of the multiple Tony award-winning comedy The Producers, written by Mel Brooks, which has taken Broadway and the West End by storm.

The smash hit musical at Theatre at The Mill in Newtownabbey showcases the cream of Northern Ireland’s top young performers who had to compete in an extensive audition to win one of the prized places to star in the musical directed by Peter Corry.

Simon (16) is a pupil at St Colman’s College and is a member of LLT drama group and has been acting since he was four years old. Rory (16) attends Banbridge Academy and performed last year in Theatre at The Mill’s production of Oklahoma!
