The DeerStalker Bar & Bistro creates 35 jobs

A total of 35 full and part-time jobs have been created with the launch of the 120 seat bar and bistro.

The DeerStalker Bar & Bistro, which opened its doors to the public this month, is operated by local hotelier, Peter Wilson who is Managing Director of Kellys, Portrush and nephew of the venue’s founder, the late James Wilson.

The family-owned Kellys complex has welcomed hundreds of thousands of party goers across five decades and employs more than 120 full and part time staff across the 3 bars, hotel, nightclub and caravan park.

County Down-based designer, Drew Henry oversaw the development project which took 12 weeks

and included an extensive refurbishment of the Golf Links Hotel, Boat Bar and Study Bar as well as

the newly built DeerStalker Bar & Bistro.

With the interior incorporating a range of bespoke features in a nod to the venue’s original Deerstalker bar, the North Coast venue expects to attract golfers, tourists, locals and visitors from the Golf Links Caravan Park.

Peter Wilson, who has been at the helm of the venue since 2005, commented: “Staying true to the heritage of the original Deerstalker bar which was founded by my uncle in 1972, I wanted to create a comfortably traditional bar with a countryside-inspired feel while introducing some new and updated features.

“The new bar will offer guests a relaxed space for enjoying a drink and traditional pub-grub snacks as well as streaming live sport while the refurbishment of the complex’s existing bars and hotel allows us to continue to provide the highest level of hospitality and entertainment.
