The 'man in black' is back in Ballymena

JOHNNY Cash may be playing that great gig in the sky, but on Saturday night, March 20 he returns to rock The Fort Royal Inn in the form of singer/songwriter Johnny Mac and his live backing band.

The backing band, which consists of experienced musicians Rory on lead guitar, Stanley on bass guitar, Adrian on drums and Cycil on rhythm guitar, will also perform a selection of songs from the 60s to the 90s during the night to suit all musical tastes.

Since the release of the autobiographical film Walk the Line, the interest in Cash has reached new heights.

Despite being regarded as one of the greatest country music stars of all time, his popularity transgressed all genres.

His religious background appealed to gospel and country audiences but he was also highly acclaimed among heavy metal fans for his wilder side.

All the big hits will be performed in that unmistakable Cash croak including, Ring of Fire, I Got Stripes, Get Rhythm, Folsom Prison Blues and Hurt, not to mention many more from the great man’s mammoth catalogue of songs.

Joe Corey Promotions, the manager of the band, states that Johnny Mac has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to Cash’s music and bears an uncanny resemblance to the ‘Man in Black’ in both voice and style.
