The Pilgrim’s Progress bound for Coleraine

FOLLOWING the success of The Screwtape Letters at Coleraine’s Riverside Theatre in March this year, the Saltmine Theatre Company has announced they are returning to tread local boards with their latest production, The Pilgrim’s Progress.

The story follows Christian and his companions as they set out on a dangerous adventure and journey that will see him meet both friends and enemies along the way. With challenges great and small on his path, will he ever reach the Heavenly City?

Set in the Industrial Revolution, Saltmine’s adaptation of John Bunyan’s classic work promises to bring this extraordinary story to life for a new generation. The production has already been performed at 16 regional theatres around the UK to great acclaim.

First published in 1678, ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’ is regarded as one of the most significant works of English literature and is the world’s second most read book. While in Bedford’s county gaol, Bunyan drew on his own spiritual journey to create a story giving comfort to those experiencing struggles in their own lives.

Saltmine Theatre Company remains the only professional theatre company with a Christian ethos performing consistently in mainstream theatres in the UK.

Their twelve actors tour throughout the year with other work in schools and churches – last year alone they did 450 performances of 17 different productions.

The Pilgrim’s Progress will be performed at the Riverside Theatre on Monday, October 3 at 11pm.
