Advice for budding film makers - get shooting

Having been involved with independent projects over the last few years, in addition to watching and writing about films, I like to make them.

They say that everyone has a good book in them and I happen to think the same is true for film; its a medium I would recommend to absolutely anyone.

There has never been a better time to be a filmmaker. Independent filmmaking, which gained popularity in the 90’s, has expanded even further over the last decade or so - due to the rise of the internet and the ready availability of industry standard software and equipment.

The internet offers a plethora of opportunity for the aspiring filmmaker, once only afforded to those in film school.

Youtube has been integral in giving a platform for work to be seen by a world wide audience, as well as feedback and advice.

Wreckamovie is an online community of effects designers, who will offer their assistance on a venture; even funding can be acquired online via kickstarter and indiegogo.

There are more resources for someone wishing to enter this world than ever before. If you’ve ever given thought to pursuing filmmaking, now’s the time to do it. Get shooting.
