Bad Grandpaa film for fans of toilet humour

Johnny Knoxville’s ‘Old Man’ character that appeared in the Jackass television show and movies, is given his own spin off in Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa.

When Irving Zisman’s wife dies, he decides to start dating again. But with his daughter facing a prison sentence, he is given (to his dismay) the task of transporting his grandson Billy across the country to live with his father.

On their journey to North Carolina, they get involved in various mishaps involving supermarket theft, invasion of a wedding after party and Billy’s entrance into a child beauty pageant.

All with Irving’s deceased wife, whom he can’t afford to bury, in the boot of their car.

All events are shot as undercover pranks on the public.

Due to this, despite having Jackass in the title, it owes more to Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat and Bruno. Knoxville is on good form, as is 10-year-old Jackson Nicoll as grandson Billy.

I was particularly impressed at the foul mouthed youngster’s ability to remain in character while ad-libbing a barrage of insults.

Bad Grandpa is unapologetically low brow, but for those with an appreciation for toilet humour (such as myself), Bad Grandpa makes for hilarious viewing.
