Dyson set to suck up the audience at Island Centre

CELEBRATE the 75th anniversary of George Gershwin with an evening of irresistible charm and sophistication at the Island Arts Centre tonight (Friday) at 8pm.

Pianist Phillip Dyson invites you to a sensational show of piano music classic hits, recreating the nostalgia and dazzling toe-tapping stylish jazz of the 1920s and 1930s. George Gershwin at his very best with Rhapsody in Blue and I Got Rhythm, plus Jerome Kern’s Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, Irving Berlin’s Cheek to Cheek, Cole Porter’s Anything Goes, Scott Joplin’s The Entertainer, Fats Waller’s Honeysuckle Rose. A unique and very special George Gershwin Celebration.

Described by music critic Edward Greenfield as “brilliant” with a “wonderfully dry, very British sense of humour”, Phillip is recognised as one of Britain’s most innovative concert pianists and great entertainer. He is popular for his unique abilities in the classical and light music repertoire and his rapport with audiences, brilliant technique and sensitivity win him high praise.

Phillip makes a welcome return to ISLAND Arts Centre and is familiar to Northern Ireland audiences. He has enjoyed a ‘sellout’ at Elmwood Hall Concert for the Belfast Festival at Queen’s and BBC broadcasts and recordings as soloist with the Ulster Orchestra. Also, performances and broadcasts in Dublin’s National Concert Hall as soloist with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and RTÉ
