Get swinging at the Island

If you love live swing music and vintage dance then get yourself to the Island Arts Centre Saturday November 14.

Join the Island Arts Centre and Swingabella, a close-harmony vocal trio who will whisk you back to the creaky dance floors and sassy sound of the 30’s and 40’s with a repertoire including hits by the Andrews Sisters

Create raucous, flirtatious and energetic dance moves to the Jitterbug, West Coast Swing and Jump Jive. The talented Bellehoppers will be on hand to give you a free dance class at the beginning of the evening.

If watching and listening is more your thing, then you can simply back and soak up the cabaret style atmosphere to Swingabella and their merry band of musicians, The Swingafellas.

The Swingabella trio of Siobhan Pettit, Aine Whelan and Karen Hamill combine an extraordinary vocal blend of intimate and intricate harmonies, an engaging performance, and a fun flirtatious style that has appeal to whether you happen to be reliving your youth from the first time around or if you coquettishly sung by three broads in victory rolls and T-bar shoes.

Although superb as a trio, Karen, Aine and Siobhan have strong reputations as individual artists and have worked with the likes of Brian Kennedy, Van Morrison, Michael Bolton, Leo Sayer, Michael Ball, Heather Small, Tony Hadley, and for UTV, RTE, BBC(NI).

Tickets priced £16 are available by logging onto islandartscentre.com. Alternatively please contact the Island Arts Centre box office on 028 92 509254.
