Kings may abdicate after lazy sixth disc

Kings of Leon had been peddling a credible brand of alternative rock until ‘Sex On Fire’ propelled them into the pop charts in 2008.

Their sixth studio album Mechanical Bull falls between two stools in that it contains neither chart-bothering anthems nor songs that are likely to endear themselves with hardcore fans.

What they’ve produced is a lazy 11-track disc that doesn’t add to their armoury. On this showing, I’d be surprised if the Kings of Leon don’t decide to abdicate. GC
