Search for a sister

Belfast Operatic Company are currently searching for a black singer, dancer and actress to play the part of Deloris Van Cartier in their Spring production of ‘Sister Act’ the musical, which hits the Grand Opera House stage April 14-18 next year.

The company, who ordinarily cast within their own talent pool, are this time holding open auditions due to the specific requirements of the part, originally played by Whoopi Goldberg. Auditions will be held at their premises on Heron Road on September 26, and anyone interested should get in touch via e-mail on [email protected]

Resident Director Wilfie Pyper commented, ‘It is the first time the show has been to the Grand Opera House and we are all incredibly excited. It’s going to be a fantastic feel-good show for all ages and we’re especially excited to be holding open casting for our Deloris.’

Smash-hit musical comedy Sister Act is based on the movie of the same name. This fabulous, family-friendly, show is packed with songs inspired by Motown, funk, soul and disco. Featuring original music by eight-time Oscar and Tony Award winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors, Enchanted), this infectious score will have you dancing in the pews.
