Swift takes a trip back to late eighties

The fifth studio album by Taylor Swift, 1989, is named after the year she was born. On it, she takes a trip back to that same year in order to suckle the musical influences of the late eighties.

Put simply, it gives her the excuse to make a synthpop album.

There’s no such thing as bad publicity, and despite her very public snub of Spotify, the album has sold extremely well, reaching number one in the album chart as well as spawning two number one singles. GC
