VIDEO: Belfast Operatic’s musical Titanic tribute

This year Belfast Operatic, with a cast from all over Northern Ireland, planned to stage Titanic The Musical at the home of the great ship itself.

Months of hard work had been put into rehearsals for the show, which was to be staged in a purpose built theatre in the Belfast shipyard.

However, like so many events across the country, the company were forced to cancel the show due to the coronavirus.

The company had also been due to perform at a special event in Titanic Belfast to mark the 108th anniversary of the sinking of Titanic, which also, unfortunately had to be cancelled.

However, the company still wanted to mark the occasion in their own special way and decided to record a socially distanced performance of Nearer My God to Thee, the song which the band played as the ship sank.
