Titanic performance for Coleraine Fife and Drum

Coleraine Fife and Drum played to guests attending a black tie dinner for Northern Ireland charity, Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI.

Posing for photographs on the famous staircase, around twenty members of the Killowen based band enjoyed the day out in Belfast.

Band chairman Richard Robinson told The Times this week that they were ‘delighted’ to take up the invite.

“A representative from the charity had watched the band performing during the Queen’s visit to Coleraine last June.

“They were impressed, so they got in contact with us.

“We were delighted to be playing in the unusual surroundings of the Titanic Centre.

“We took a very young band along to the event, our younger members really enjoyed the day out, they got took the tour around the centre before we played.”

The popular band, who perform regularly at concerts and parades, played a mix of music which included popular Irish songs like the ‘Green Glens of Antrim’ and ‘Carrickfergus’ and some ex military marches.

“We played for an hour in total, “ said Richard. It was a very high profile event, there were 400 guests, so we were delighted to be showcasing the talents of the band to those outside of the Coleraine area.”
