Trauma Centre makes drama waves

A GROUP of young people from the WAVE Trauma Centre, Ballymoney were involved in a drama piece facilitated by Neil McMaster and Katherine Workman.

This was aimed at 12 -18 year olds. Members used community drama and playback and physical theatre.

Katherine Workman, Youth Worker explained: “The young people have worked hard to prepare a scripted piece based on true stories from our young people. We also used different methods of telling a story through using drama.

“This performance is extremely hard hitting and raises many issues for the young people and highlights the struggles that young people face. This has raised issues that provides evidence that trans-generational trauma is present in our young people today!”

The WAVE Organisation was founded in 1991 to provide care and support to those people who have been bereaved, injured and/or traumatised as a result of the ‘Troubles’ in Northern Ireland.
