During the Lenten season the pupils have been learning about issues affecting the lives of children in the Developing World.

Through their work in Religion classes and The World Around Us [science, history, geography] the pupils have learnt about the issues that impact on the lives of people in developing countries. Historical comparisons have also been made to The Great Famine in Ireland, an important part of the older pupils’ history syllabus.

At the beginning of Lent the children gave small daily contributions to their class Lenten Trócaire boxes and studied how Trócaire used that money in the Developing World. The children organised whole school fundraising activities including a non-uniform Green Day for the St. Patrick’s Holiday, a bun sale and a Pyjamas/Onesie Day!

Mr Conlon, Principal, was particularly pleased with the children.‘The pupils have a great understanding of the needs of others It is wonderful to see our pupils think of others. It is an important part of their faith development and we are very proud of

them for it.’
