Tucan and NI Soul Troop at Cellar Bar

THERE will be plenty of variety at the upcoming gig at the Cellar Bar when Tucan and NI Soul Troop bring a rich mix of funk, soul and rock’n’roll to the stage.

Tucan have an their own sound on the Irish music scene, playing a successful blend of funk, reggae, blues and rock’n’roll.

After touring intensively at home and abroad and releasing their debut album ‘Aliquot Strings’, the band expanded to include a powerful rhythm section that packed their self-derived fusion with even more energy. With radio airplay, their live shows developed to a cult status and their Electric Picnic shows made a name for the band.

Then the band unleashed a series of videos of their interpretations of dance classics (Daft Punk, The Prodigy, Faithless) which was released on YouTube as ‘The Factory Sessions’, which received over 100,000 hits.

Now Tucan have developed a new live spectacle of groove-filled acoustic power funk that you can experience at the Cellar Bar gig. Their diverse live show incorporates their earliest compositions, the metal and dance renditions of The Factory Sessions and climaxing with the big band sounds from their upcoming new record!

The NI Soul Troop are one of the freshest live acts to hit the Northern scene over the last few years. Using soul music as building block, they fuse funk, ska, jazz and rock’n’roll, all with a modern Northern Irish take.

The band recently launched their second EP, ‘Somebody Everybody’, in the Spring & Airbrake in Belfast, it has already been well-received with their first single from the EP, Cabin Fever, going in at number two in the Northern Irish Chart.

With lyrics ranging from the political to pop mentality set to catchy, danceable tunes they are sure to go down well in Draperstown.

On the night there will also be additional performances by Junior Johnson and Odhran Devlin to kick things off.

Doors open at 9.30pm, with performances starting at 10.30 and admission is £6 before 10.30pm, £8 after.
