U3A Choir recital

THE members of the U3A Choir, under Conductor Jim Goodman will give a Lunchtime Choir Recital next Thursday, May 2, at 1.10pm in Christ Church.

Admission is free and the recital will end at 2pm. A donation, if wished, can be made in aid of the Church Music Fund.

The choir, which is attached to the U3A Foyle was formed last year and under the direction of Jim Goodman.

Having steadily grown from an initial eight singers, the choir now boasts an ensemble of over 30.

The emphasis is on singing for fun, but this does not detract from including works of a more challenging nature.

Popular arrangements from the main stage musicals of Rodgers & Hammerstein, Jerome Kern, Andrew Lloyd Webber and others find their way into the programme alongside works by Rutter, Elgar and Howard Goodall.

So to hear some great choral pieces expertly assembled and conducted come along to Christ Church, bring a packed if you are escaping from work and enjoy a lovely selection of choral favourites.

Ben McGonigle, organist and Choirmaster of Christ Church will be the accompanist.
