Ulster Scots concert

THE Street Social Centre will be the venue for a concert with a difference this Friday night.

The event, organized by the Ullans Speakers Association based at the Ullans Centre in Victoria Street, Ballymoney, will feature a host of local talent, especially amongst the youth of the Ulster Scots world.

The Ullans Centre has become a popular place with locals and tourists alike with visits to it from politicians, Europeans, Australians, Canadians and Americans.

The building also houses the studio from whence the ever popular fUSe FM is broadcast. However, funding cuts have plunged the future of the Centre in jeopardy and if alternative funding is not found, the Centre may well be scaled down or closed.

Rather than blindly accept this bleak prospect, the Ullans Speakers Association have decided to hold a showcase concert and they are hopeful that the good folk of Ballymoney and district will turn out to support the event.

The concert starts at 8pm and will last about two hours. Acts will include Rhymers, Musicians and dancers from Culcrow and Kilrea Primary schools, Fifers and drummers from Ballymoney and Ballymaconnelly Flute band.

If you require tickets, contact the Ullans Centre on 028 2766 8897 to be assured of a seat or pay at the door on the night. Tickets are 5 for adults and 2 for children.
