Armoy School Fair

Armoy Primary School ‘Wild West’ School Fair will be held on Thursday 26th May from 6:30 – 8pm.

There will be fancy dress, bouncy castles, rodeo bull, BBQ, tin can alley, tug of war and lots, lots more!

Roger Casement Talk by Dr. Éamon Phoenix

Ballycastle Library invites you to a talk by Dr. Éamon Phoenix on ‘Roger Casement, North Antrim and the 1916 Rising’ on Saturday 28 May from 2:30pm - 4pm.

As a contribution to the Decade of Centenaries, Dr. Éamon Phoenix, one of Ireland’s leading historians will give an illustrated talk on Sir Roger Casement’s family background in North Antrim, his diplomatic and humanitarian work in two continents and his conversion to Irish nationalism. His friendship with the Protestant Home Ruler F. J. Bigger, his involvement in the Glens Feis (1904) and the Ballymoney Home Rule meeting of 1913 will be addressed, as well as his role in the 1916 Easter Rising. Finally Dr. Phoenix will discuss Casement’s trial and the controversial ‘Black Diaries’.

Dr. Éamon Phoenix is the Principal Lecturer in History and Head of Lifelong Learning in Stranmillis University College Belfast.

Admission to this event is free and everyone is welcome!

Coffee morning

Mother Goose playgroup in Ballycastle invites you to the Mad Hatter’s themed coffee morning on Friday 3rd June from 10am - 1.30pm. Entrance by donation at the door.

This event has proved very popular so this year the venue has changed to the main hall in Sheskburn House. Enjoy a few tasty lunch time treats as well as our fantastic huge range of home baked goodies with a cuppa. This year there is an additional activity whereby you can entera competition under different categories with a chance to win a prize.

Category 1. set of 6 tray bakes, any sort; 2. childrens bun decorating (will be broken into age groups); 3. a flower arrangement in a teacup or teapot; 4. children’s art work based on the theme of Alice in wonderland (broken into age groups); 5. a novelty cake with the theme of Alice in wonderland

Entries £1 and these must be brought along for 9.am for judging on the day. They must be labelled with name and contact number.

Children’s entries must have name and age. There will also be a raffle.

Margaret Avenue and Square Community Association will be hosting an evening of dance and cabaret.

The event will take place in the Royal British Legion in Ballymoney this Friday, May 27.

Music will be by Three’s Country and the compere for the night will be Gary Wilson.

Guest artists include Francis Donnelly, Owen Mac and Daniel Truesdale.

Tickets, priced at £7.50, are available from the RBL Clubrooms in Ballymoney or you can pay at the door on the night.

Doors open at 8pm with the show starting at 9pm.

No health without mental health

The FHB Patient Participation Group are hosting a patient information afternoon entitled ‘ No Health Without Mental Health’ at the Lecture Room in Ballymoney Health Centre at 2.30pm on Monday 6th June. All are welcome to attend and learn about looking after their emotional wellbeing and accessing local support.

Night at the races

One2one Care and Support Services is hosting a night at the races in aid of Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke on 25th June in Drumadoon, Cloughmills at 8pm! Great prizes donated from local businesses including Northern Ireland shirt signed by Captain Steven Davis. Supper provided.

Somme trip

Trinity Bowling Club is holding their 50th anniversary thanksgiving service on Sunday, May 29 in Trinity Presbyterian Church from 6.30pm.

Praise will be led by Trinity Church Choir with guest soloist Erica McAuley. Speaker will be Rev Philip Kerr. Offerings in aid of Macmillian Unit, Antrim Area Hospital. Supper served afterwards.

Church parade

Rasharkin District ILOL No3 will hold their annual Church Parade and service on Sunday, May 29.

Service in Rasharkin Free Presbyterian at 3.30pm. Parade to assemble at turnpike at 2.45pm.
