Video: Ardboe singer wows on TG4 singing competition

Ardboe songstress Shauna McStravock wowed the judges on TG4 singing competition Glór Tíre on Wednesday night with her rendition of Lee Greenwood’s ‘Dixie Road.’

The 26-year-old who is already a familiar face on the local country music scene, took to the stage as one of nine contestants bidding to be crowed this year’s Glór Tíre winner.

Each contestant has a mentor on the show and Shauna’s mentor is popular Scottish country singer Lisa McHugh.

One of the judges commented on a similarity between the two young singers and told Shauna she had ‘a great stage presence’.

Speaking following her performance Shauna thanked everyone for their messages of support: “I want to say a massive thank you to each and everyone of you for your kind support so far. It really means so much to me.”

Speaking to the TIMES before the show began, Lisa McHugh said she was excited to work with Shauna: “She’s a lovely young girl and she is so talented. I’ve known her for a few years now, she has been doing a few concerts and things that I’ve been on and I’ve always kept a look out to see where she is and what she is bringing out so I thought Shauna would be a perfect contestant for this year and she is working so hard, I am so excited for her,” Lisa said.
