WheelWorks Legenderry Project

Wheelworks WheelWorks and Voluntary Arts Ireland have partnered up for a very special celebration event on 24th October in the Verbal Arts Centre as part of ‘Our City of Culture’, an initiative of Voluntary Arts Ireland and the Verbal Arts Centre.

Earlier this year the WheelWorks ArtCart, Northern Ireland’s unique mobile digital arts vehicle, delivered a project to both Lettershandoney District Development Group and Newbuildings Community & Environmental Association which encouraged young people to explore issues around City of Culture, its relation to their local community and any changes they would like to see in their area.

Working with WheelWorks artists through photography and music they were able to explore these issues and were made aware of the benefits of cultural participation.

As part of a showcase of the work produced, WheelWorks will be delivering a ‘Virtual ArtCart’ musical experience in the Verbal Arts Centre from 1pm to 5pm on October 24.

Voluntary Arts Ireland Information & Communication Officer, Tony Carlin said: “We’re thrilled to help support WheelWorks on this exciting project. Our City of Culture is all about giving people a platform to get involved in the UK City of Culture celebrations through their own creative events and this is exactly what WheelWorks have done with young people from around the city. The fact that there is also free music workshops taking place promises to make this a really fantastic afternoon.”

Fans of making instant noise are urged to visit the Verbal Arts Centre between 1pm and 5pm where you can work with skilled musicians.

All instruments and equipment provided. Event open to all ages from 7 years of age up and is free of charge. All abilities welcome.
