At a sparkling awards ceremony held at the Raceview Gallery in Raceview Mill, 24 local photographers received prizes from Tamasin Frazer, of Abo Wind NI, a wind farm company working to increase renewable energy in Northern Ireland. These prizes included cash awards of £900, two Nikon SLR cameras, 14 digital cameras and video camcorders as well as ABI wind goody bags.

Mid and East Antrim Arts Development Officer Rosalind Lowry presented the prizes and complimented the photographers on their skills.

Chair of the judging panel, Roy McKeown said: “The quality of the entries in the junior category blew us away. The winner in that category, Rebekah Neilly had shown real creativity in taking a ‘selfie’ with a local wind turbine.”

Roy described the winning entry, by John Miskelly, as a beautiful landscape picture that could grace any wall and proved how attractive wind turbines in the Northern Ireland landscape can be.
