Women’s world

INTERNATIONAL Women’s Day was celebrated in style this year by Coleraine businesswomen.

Award-winning hair stylist Joanne O’Neill and Northern Ireland’s top make-up artist Paddy McGurgan were joined by 154 business women from throughout the borough for a motivational and inspiring workshop in the Playhouse Portrush where they shared business tips and treated the audience to live make-up and hair demonstrations.

The latest collaboration by Causeway Enterprise Agency, Invest Northern Ireland, Coleraine Borough Council and Causeway Chamber aimed to inspire, encourage and support female entrepreneurs. It was therefore fitting that the highlight of the evening was the presentation from award-winning hairdresser Joanne O’Neill who talked the ladies through her journey from salon junior to European champion hairstylist.

During the rest of the evening the audience had the opportunity to discuss their dreams, hopes, fears and challenges of running a business with a panel of successful local business women.

Commenting on the event, Jayne Taggart, Chief Executive of Causeway Enterprise Agency, said: “Women attend our Go Women events for camaraderie and inspiration, but it’s the support system offered by the organisations involved that keeps these ladies coming back and provides them with on-going support throughout the year.

“Causeway Enterprise Agency are delighted to be an essential part of that support network and are particularly encouraged with the large turnout to this year’s event which shows that there’s a substantial pool of women in the Coleraine area interested in business and keen to be part of initiatives that will help to accelerate economic growth here.”
