Wookalily are in Lisburn for one night only

‘Wookalily’ is a female led Americana folk band with roots in bluegrass and country. The band comprises of four accomplished musicians Adele, Sharon, Lindsay, Lou. It’s best to say they are too girly to be a beat group, too funky to be a folk group and simply too good to miss.

Adele Ingram’s songs are redolent of Arlo Guthrie and The Roches in their gentle melange of whimsy, profundity and melodies which linger in the mind; Lyndsay Crothers is a vocalist combining Sandy Denny soul and Janis Joplin power; Cardiff Lou Potter, on drums, tells jokes and rocks (like a girl). Which suits Wookalily just fine. Sharon Morgan plays lead guitar, banjo, bass and is the quieter girl in the group.

Their transatlantic sound has developed a cult following. Authentic yet quirky their FolkNoir, Americana, Alt-Country, Roots, Bluegrass music has an old-word feel with a young-timey appeal.

Wookalily released their debut EP Black Magic Doll in 2011. Their song Diamonds And Gold gained them a showcase at the prestigious IBMA World of Bluegrass Festival in Nashville in 2012. They also recorded for Country Music Hall-Of-Famer Dixie Hall’s Pickin’ Like A Girl compilation in 2013 – the only non-American act to do so. Their own debut album All The Waiting While was released in November 2014.
