Young people raise their voices in song at Courtyard Theatre

A PACKED inter-generational audience of women from across Newtownabbey and North Belfast enjoyed a wonderful show entitled ‘Raise Your Voice’ at the Courtyard Theatre, Ballyearl on Monday, February 27.

Organised by Greater North Belfast Women Networking - a new and exciting network of women from across this wide area - the show featured young people from Belfast Youth in the Arts dancing and singing in an energetic production aimed at raising awareness of issues such as acceptance and inclusion that are faced by the youth of today.

The event which was funded by the North Belfast Good Relations Partnership, OFMDFM, was hosted by Newtownabbey Senior Citizens’ Forum, a partner group in the new Network and it was the first event organised to celebrate International Women’s Day 2012.

“What better way to get across the importance of valuing our young people than an energetic and creative musical drama - the talent of these young people had the audience on their feet and dancing in the aisles and certainly made us all think about the issues raised,” said Anne Carr, facilitator of the new Networking initiative on behalf of Shankill Women’s Centre, in praise of everyone involved.
