Designed specifically for local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Newtownabbey, Antrim, Ballymena and Moyle council areas, the Business Advancement Programme offers expert help and guidance to enable businesses to develop and implement their innovation plans and unlock their business potential.

Speaking at the official launch, Mayor of Newtownabbey, Alderman Fraser Agnew, said: “It is vital for businesses to invest in innovation, particularly during periods of difficult trading conditions so that they are in a better position to compete when conditions improve.”

Businesses taking part in the programme will receive three days specialist support and key benefits will include:

• A tailored action plan for developing innovation throughout the business;

• Three days of one-to-one specialist mentoring to help build innovation capability;

• Access to workshops and a step-by-step guide to help develop and implement innovation and creative thinking;

• Opportunities to collaborate with other businesses and come together to develop new, innovative products and services.

Invest NI Eastern Regional Manager, Moira Loughran commented: “We recognise the fundamental value of innovation to driving future growth.”

The programme is now open for applications. Early application is advised as spaces are limited.

Applications are particularly encouraged from businesses in the craft, food, transport and professional services sectors.
