BIA renews contract for air traffic control services

Belfast International Airport has reappointed NATS to provide air traffic control services.

NATS, the UK’s leading provider of air traffic services and solutions, will provide air traffic services on the site for the next five years as well as an ‘en route service’ for all air traffic flying through the Belfast area.

Mike Stoller, NATS Operations Director, Airports, visited Belfast International Airport to meet Managing Director John Doran and Operations Director Alan Whiteside.

Mr Stoller said: “We are delighted to be continuing our close and long-standing relationship with Belfast International Airport. It shows that we can be successful in offering a competitive and valuable service for our airport customers.”

“High quality air traffic management is vital for the safe, smooth and efficient running of any airport, helping to minimise delays while maximising available capacity. NATS has years of experience in providing exactly that.”

In 2012, Belfast International Airport carried over 4.3m passengers, with NATS controllers handling 60,000 flights.
