Business awards are postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic

The 2020 Larne Business Excellence Awards have been postponed until next year.

The decision was taken this week due to the worsening situation around Covid-19.

The prestigious awards, which were due to be hosted by the Larne Times in association with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, had been planned to take place in April and then were postponed until November due to the pandemic.

Valerie Martin, jpimedia NI Head of Content, said the decision to now postpone the awards to 2021 had been taken with great regret, but the safety and health of awards attendees was paramount.

“2020 would have marked the fifth year that the Larne Times has hosted the awards and we were really looking forward to them.

“We had hoped that we would have been able to proceed with the awards but the worsening situation with the Coronavirus pandemic means that we must postpone this fabulous gala event until next year.

“It is important that the health and safety of all our sponsors and attendees comes first and that we adhere to the restrictions imposed by the Northern Ireland Executive which are there to keep us all safe.

“Hopefully next year things will have improved sufficiently so that we can really do the awards the justice they deserve,” she said.
