Busy period for airport

City of Derry Airport, the airport of choice for the North West of Ireland, is expecting over 14,000 passengers through its doors this festive season as people return home for the Christmas holidays.

As well as passengers, thousands of meeters and greeters are expected to descend on the airport as they welcome home loved ones for Christmas.

Damien Tierney, Airport Director from City of Derry Airport said: “Our predicted figures at 14,000 this Christmas are encouraging, and we are experiencing similar figures to the festive 2012 period. In the run up to the Christmas and to accommodate the busiest period for the airport, we advise all passengers to check security restrictions before arriving at the airport”.

Charlene Shongo, Commercial Manager at CoDA said, “Christmas is one of our busiest times and we are expecting around 14,000 passengers to use the airport before the end of the year. As part of the festive season and as a thank you to all our customers, we have introduced a special low car parking rate which will continuing into early Spring. It will cost just £1 for up to 45mins in our main car park, located in front of the terminal. This will allow meeters and greeters sufficient time to pick up and drop off their loved ones over the festive period”.
