Carrick firms urged to follow Nectar's export markets example

Carrickfergus companies are urged to reap the rewards of investing in research and development.

The appeal from East Antrim MLA Alastair Ross follows the announcement that Sloefield Drive-based beauty product manufacturer, Nectar International Ltd, has won a new contract in the United Arab Emirates.

The deal signed with the Landmark group in Dubai is estimated to be worth £400,000 and will see Nectar’s range of ‘Soap Story’ products in Landmark outlets in the Middle East, Africa and India.

Mr Ross commented: “In order to grow our economy we want to see local companies invest in R&D and look to export into new markets. Nectar is an example of just that as they will now be able to sell their products in the Middle East, Africa and India.”

The DUP representative continued: “It also highlights the success of Invest NI in assisting local companies get into new markets through support and trade missions.

“I would congratulate Nectar International Ltd on this latest success and hope that they can grow even further in the years to come.”
