Closing date looms to apply for latest Council grant aid funding

Antrim & Newtownabbey groups considering applying for 2020-21 Community Development & Community Festivals Grant Aid have until Friday, March 27, to get their application in.

Applications are invited by from all constituted community and voluntary groups within the borough for projects/activities taking place from April 1, 2020 – March 31, 2021. There are a range of grant streams available ranging from Summer Schemes to Community Festivals and Premises. The closing date for applications is 4pm on Friday, March 27.

The new Small Activity and/or Insurance Grant and Small Seeding and/or Insurance Grant Aid Programmes are also open for projects/activities taking place from April 1, 2020 – March 31, 2021, These programmes offer small grants up to £500 to successful applicants and are open on a rolling basis throughout the year and are part funded by the Department for Communities. For those groups wishing to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day a Special VE Day 75 Grant Aid Programme is now open. This grant fund is to support local community and voluntary organisations running VE Day 75 Commemorative events in their community. A maximum of £1000 funding is available for events being held during the period of May 1-10, 2020. The closing date for applications is March 27 at 4pm.

Applications should have Community Development as a primary objective.

Projects should: Demonstrate need – have you demonstrated that there is a need for your proposed project and, if so, how has this been demonstrated?

Have realistic outputs and outcomes – these should be specific, measurable and time bound.

Add value to Community Development in Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council area – your project should not duplicate current provision but should enhance or provide additional services/activities for our local communities. Projects should encourage maximum participation in community life by all residents.

Fit strategically - Your application should complement the Borough Council’s Corporate Plan and any other relevant publications

Be financially viable – applicants need to submit a secure financial proposal with a clear confirmation of “total” project costs.
