DUP delegation visits CIDO complex

A DELEGATION of DUP politicians recently toured the Craigavon HQ of CIDO – Craigavon Industrial Development Organisation.

The delegation comprising Upper Bann MP David Simpson, MLAs Sydney Anderson and Stephen Moutray and Cllr Carla Lockhart, Chair of Craigavon Borough Council’s Development Committee met with the new Chief Executive Brian Hunter and Vice Chairman Charles Neville.

Speaking afterwards in a joint statement the DUP representatives said: “This was a welcome opportunity to meet with senior CIDO personnel and to get an update on ongoing work and linkages with local business people. As the only local political party with local representation at Council, Assembly, Westminster and European level the DUP is keen to work alongside organisations like CIDO especially as Northern Ireland seeks to navigate the current difficult economic situation.

“It is vital that there are real two-way partnerships between political representatives and organisations such as CIDO in order to do everything possible to encourage and nurture local business entrepreneurs.

“As well as having units in both Portadown and Lurgan, CIDO is able to offer a wide range of support to local people. Small businesses face many challenges and CIDO is well placed to provide the kind of support and advice that can help a business to both succeed and grow.

“We were keen to hear first-hand of the ongoing work of CIDO and look forward to further ongoing engagement on behalf of local business people.”
