“The Park and Ride at Drumahoe has proven very popular with occupancy rates well over 80 per cent. In addition, the site can be used to park and ride into the city with the many events planned for City of Culture 2013. This scheme, costing £250,000, is indicative of the support by government to ensure the success of the Derry/Londonderry City of Culture 2013,” he said.

The larger facility will enable Translink to consider enhancing the level of service to the Drumahoe site. The site, which currently facilitates Translink Goldline services to Belfast, will have the potential to enable journeys into the city as well as acting as a park and ride site for the many events planned to be held for City of Culture 2013. Little or no disruption to the service has been promised.
