Firms urged to speak out about red tape and bureaucracy

Mr Ross said that Northern Ireland should be aiming to be the most business friendly region of the United Kingdom and the Assembly should create the right environment for growth and job creation.

“One of the greatest gripes that those of us in public office hear from business owners and representative bodies is the amount of red tape and bureaucracy they need to deal with. Whilst much of this regulation comes from Brussels, where we in Northern Ireland the have power to reduce unnecessary regulation we should,” the DUP man said.

“Government’s role is to create the right environment for job creation, by attracting investment, encouraging innovation, supporting entrepreneurship and reducing the regulatory burden that strangles small businesses.

“I would therefore encourage local business organisations and small business owners to have their voices heard, and respond to the review of business red tape being undertaken by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, a review with the end goal of reducing the regulatory burden on local business.”

DETI want to hear about overly burdensome regulations, redundant laws, draconian enforcement practices from regulators and any other evidence based suggestions for lighter touch regulation in Northern Ireland.
