According to the Consumer Council, more than 50,000 households and small businesses in Greater Belfast will see savings following the company’s decision to decrease its prices by 12% from April 16, 2020.
Paulino Garcia, head of energy policy at The Consumer Council, said: “This is the second Firmus Energy price decrease in Greater Belfast since last summer and represents a reduction of £66 on the typical annual gas bill.

“This will be especially welcome for those in vulnerable circumstances, as the average weekly discretionary income in Northern Ireland is £119 per week, which is approximately £100 lower than in the rest of the UK. It now means that all natural gas consumers in the Greater Belfast area will see a significant price drop during April.”
The Greater Belfast network area includes Belfast, Lisburn, Bangor, Holywood, Donaghadee, Groomsport, Millisle, Newtownards, Carryduff, Comber, Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus, Larne and East Down.
