FK Lowry staff lend a hand

The FK Lowry team recently spent their Volunteer Day at the Dementia Unit at a local Care Home.

The Pond Park Care Home is located just five minutes from our FKL Plant Facility in Lisburn and the team mobilised to site to carry out remedial works.

The Care Home has a dedicated Dementia Unit but unfortunately the grounds have fallen into disrepair.

The team, headed up by General Plant Manager, Pat McKay, Service Manager, Alan McCulla, and Yard/Store Man, PJ Conway, set about making the courtyard area a cleaner, and more attractive area for the Residents to use.

The FK Lowry General Plant Manager, Pat McKay explained: “The Care Home is merely a few minutes away from our Yard and when we heard that they required some help we were only too pleased to try and assist.

“We cut away a lot of undergrowth and swept and power-washed the entire area so that residents can make use of this outside facility.

“As a local business, we have a responsibility to assist where we can and we’ve been delighted to be able to give something back, particularly in light of the current Covid pandemic and the fact that we’re on the run up to Christmas.

“We were also assisted by the local Nettlehill Service Station & Deli as when they heard about what we were doing, we were provided with lunch and refreshments by the Owner, Mr John Flood.

“We hope the Care Home residents get some value in the refurbished Courtyard.”
